Skill Development
We, in Speech and Hearing Institute Research Centre have floated a project named SHILPI which enables the beneficiaries of SHIRC and others to receive a certificate on skill development and entrepreneurship. The objective of this skill certification project is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up Industry relevant skill training that will help them in securing an independent livelihood.
Joining Hands with Nakshi Creations:
Income generation through skill development has been one of the major missions of SHIRC. Income Generation interventions attempt to address poverty, unemployment, and lack of economic opportunities to increase participants' ability to generate income and secure livelihoods.
Through project bandhan we were able to establish a partnership to skill develop, employ and also market products made by they people with disability . In most cases the informal economy offers more opportunities for livelihood than the formal economy for the people with disability.
Success Stories:
One of our beneficiaries Saathi is hearing impaired and has a accute learning disability. But through consistent training she has been able to develop the skills to make Universally Designed Learning Kit (hyperlinked to universally designed learning kit).
Through this vocational training courses these vulnerable women are not only attaining intra personal development but also create job opportunities.
